Investing For Your Future - Helps consumers learn through an 11-unit home study course designed for beginning investors with small dollar amounts to invest at any one time. Brought to you by Rutgers Cooperative Extension.

The 2008 AFCPE Extension Pre-Conference was held in conjunction with the November 19-21 AFCPE Annual Conference in Garden Grove, CA.

The 2008 pre-conference theme this year was Extension Opportunities in Troubled Times. The planning team -- Jinhee Kim, University of Maryland; Bobbie Shaffett, Mississippi State University; Claudette Smith, North Carolina State A&T; Trish Olson, University of Minnesota; Patti Wooten Swanson; University of California; Jim Terry, Program Specialist, CSREES, and Jane Schuchardt, National Program Leader, CSREES – made the pre-conference highly interactive with news to be used. Highlights were dialogue related to educational opportunities regarding bankruptcy, mortgage foreclosure, and natural disasters. The Pre-conference agenda and the presenters PowerPoint slides are available for your use. The topics included (in the order of the above attachments) Understanding Incident Management and Assistance; Evaluating Financial Education in Troubled Times; Mortgage Foreclosure—Resources for Training; Debt Know How; MSU Extension and Housing Education/Counseling; Mortgage Foreclosure Process; New Start for Financial Success, and Reverse Mortgages.

Annual NCCC052 Meeting Focuses on Emerging Research Topics

The annual NCCC052 meeting will be held October 16–17 in Detroit’s Marriott at the Renaissance Center. The hotel is located in the GM Renaissance Center and is convenient to downtown Detroit restaurants and services. In addition, the hotel is just 30 minutes from Detroit Metropolitan Airport and 5 minutes from Windsor, Canada. For more information on accommodations, visit the hotel Web site.
