NIFA Adopts New Award Amendment Process and Post Award Email Notification

As part of a major initiative to go paperless, USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) will begin delivering post-award correspondence to grant offices via email. The change from the current use of U.S. mail allows nearly all official communication of post-award actions (no-cost extensions, changes in key personnel, fund releases, etc.) to be delivered to grantees via email using the NIFA-2009 Award Face Sheet. Beginning July 3, 2013, this document will be used for both award notification and award changes and will be delivered via email. 

The most significant impact to grantees is that they will no longer receive paper copies for most post-award actions executed by the NIFA Office of Grants and Financial Management’s Awards Management Division. This new process supports NIFA Director Sonny Ramaswamy’s goal for the agency to go paperless and increases efficiency in both delivery and storage of official correspondence.
