2008 Plant Breeding Coordinating Committee Workshop

A new national coordinating committee of U.S. plant breeders (SCC-080) was established in 2007 at a workshop co-organized by CSREES and the Departments of Crop Science and Horticultural Science at North Carolina State University. The committee is actively working to raise awareness of what plant breeders have done for the nation and how they can contribute to the future of the United States. The group also seeks to strengthen U.S. plant breeding capacity by encouraging improvements in infrastructure and education. The new committee was established as a Land-Grant University Multistate Project.

The 2008 Workshop of the Plant Breeding Coordinating Committee will be held June 16-18, 2008, in Des Moines, IA.

U.S. public and private sector plant breeders from all crops should attend, along with multi-disciplinary colleagues and others interested in the future of plant breeding.
