Managed Grazing in the
Intermountain West
Rangeland scientists from Western land-grant
universities and the federal government are
studying issues surrounding managed grazing
systems in the Intermountain West. The multistate WERA1002
committee, funded through CSREES, has
three objectives:
- develop inventories of existing expertise
and publications related to environmentally
and economically sustainable integrated
livestock grazing systems;
- develop appropriate regional use protocols
for selection and testing of grazing-related
forage species or varieties of potential
use in integrated livestock grazing systems;
and
- provide and exchange information related
to integrated livestock grazing systems
for dissemination through field days, workshops,
Web pages, publications, symposia, and
other outlets.
The committee meets
annually in Salt Lake City during January. For more information, contact
Jim Dobrowolski.
