Water Quality and Quantitity Projects Featured on Partners Video Magazine
The award-winning NIFA Partners Video magazine is putting a special focus on NIFA-supported water quality and quantity projects. The video magazine series presents the programs and accomplishments of the partnership between NIFA and the Land-Grant University System in the areas of research, education, and extension.
Water programs featured include: 1) The Rio Grande Basin Initiative which funds conservation increasing demands on the Southwest's "Big River;” 2) a University of Idaho snow-pack study that helps forestland managers understand the impact of timber harvests on snow-melt and water supplies in the West; 3) a team from three universities (Rutgers, Cornell, and Virginia Tech) which touts the benefits of rain gardens for businesses and backyards to filter pollutants from storm water runoff; and 4) research at New Mexico State University which tests and compares state-of-the-art drip lines and ancient acequia canals that use the Rio Grande River for irrigation.
