Background Information
On Multistate Research Projects
Mission:
To enable research on high-priority topics
among the State Agricultural Experiment Stations
(SAES) in partnership with CSREES, other
research institutions and agencies, and the
Cooperative Extension System. In this way,
technological opportunities and complex problem
solving activities which are beyond the scope
of a single SAES, can be approached in a
more efficient and comprehensive way.
Legislative Authority:
The
Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education
Reform Act of 1998 (AREERA)
Funding:
“Not less than 25 percent [of the
formula funding] shall be allotted to the
States for cooperative research employing
multidisciplinary approaches…to solve
problems that concern more than one state.” --
