Presidential Early Career Award Nominated by CSREES, Dr. Sarah Brooks, Texas A&M University assistant professor, received the prestigious Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. Dr. Brooks was honored at a White House ceremony presided over by John Marburger, III, Science Advisor to the President and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP).
Dr. Brooks has helped agricultural producers understand and control atmospheric emissions through her investigations into the chemical and physical properties of dust emissions from cattle feed lots and other agricultural operations. Her research will improve understanding of how concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) affect air quality and could lead to new mitigation strategies.
Dr. Brooks' research was funded by the CSREES National Research Initiative (NRI) Air Quality program.
