Food Safety Training and Education Alliance

The Food Safety Training and Education Alliance for Retail, Food Service, Vending, Institutions, and Regulators (FSTEA) was established through the President’s Food Safety Initiative of 1997. As members of the Alliance, CSREES and other federal agencies work with industry, consumer, trade, and state and local food protection and other agencies to share food safety educational materials and conduct joint educational activities to increase resources and expand outreach.

The Alliance is tasked with joining expertise of federal, state, and local agencies, industry, and professional and trade associations to promote and implement the Food and Drug Administration Food Code. The group is also developing multilingual information materials targeting specific groups to overcome communication barriers.
