Healthy Homes Initiative

The Healthy Homes Initiative is a partnership between CSREES and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). It provides, through a growing network of state coordinators, information about home health hazards and steps that can be taken to avoid them.

Data from 2007 data indicate the program reached 205,318 consumers. The self-help booklet Help Yourself to a Healthy Home was distributed to more than 150,000 consumers and has also been translated into Spanish, Hmong, Bosnian, and Vietnamese.

The Healthy Homes Initiative also trained more than 440 extension agents, 1,700 health department officials, 260 social service professionals, 920 day care providers, and 930 nonprofit organizations.
