Child Care & After-School Programs

USDA Rural Development

Rural Development, within the USDA, administers the Rural Business-Cooperative Service, Rural Housing Service, Rural Utilities Service, and Office of Community Development programs.

CSREES partners with the USDA Rural Development Mission Area to provide information to Cooperative Extension System staff about the funding available through Rural Development, particularly about building facilities that could include child care and after-school programs and for loans to start child care and after-school businesses.

Information is also provided to local and state rural development professionals about the extensive outreach capacities of the Cooperative Extension System.
