2007 National Extension Conference on Volunteerism
Join us for the 2007 National Extension Conference on Volunteerism as we prepare ourselves and our extension organization for heightened and diverse volunteer involvement and a bigger and brighter future. The conference invites extension state specialists, staff, and educators in volunteerism, community service, leadership development, and other related programs to attend. The purpose is to provide a professional development experience regarding recent research, best practices, contemporary thought, and trends regarding volunteerism across all extension program areas. The conference is April 16–19, 2007, at the Rock Springs 4-H Center in Junction City, KS. Visit http://rocksprings.net to find out more information about the Rock Springs 4-H Center. Conference registration information will be posted in September.
“Volunteers: Our ‘Extension’ of Community” is the theme for the 2007 National Extension Conference on Volunteerism. Community is more than a physical place; community can be a neighborhood or a group of people with a common interest or challenge. It could be Master Gardeners responding to the needs of local citizens or gardeners trying to make their vegetables thrive. Or maybe community is a 4-H club volunteer helping youth to belong to something bigger than themselves, or youth needing guidance and support. There are many faces of community. Within Cooperative Extension, community is extended, community is brightened, and community is strengthened by the engagement of volunteers.
The deadline for the call for proposals for workshops, research reports, book reviews, and updates is July 21, 2006. A committee of extension professionals will review the proposals, and notification of accepted proposals will be completed by August 18, 2006.
Please plan to join us in April! Check this Web site for further news and information about the 2007 National Extension Conference on Volunteerism as the workshops and speakers are determined and the scheduled is developed.
