Energy Star
Energy conservation continues to be an important
consumer concern as energy costs increase
and energy supplies become scarcer. Energy
Star is a voluntary program sponsored
by the U.S. Department of Energy and the
Environmental Protection Agency, partnering
with NIFA.
The program concentrates on educating consumers
about benefits of high-efficiency homes,
appliances, consumer electronics, office
equipment, windows, lighting, and building
materials. This outreach educational program
is available in 17 states through state program
managers. The University of Georgia helps
to coordinate this program.
