National Council on Family Relations Extension Pre-Conference
Dr. Caroline Crocoll, CSREES National Program Leader for Family Science (FS), joined FS specialists from across the Cooperative Extension System for the National Council on Family Relations Annual Extension Pre-Conference. Convened November 4, 2008 in Little Rock, Arkansas, and hosted by the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension, the event featured a presentation by Oklahoma State's Ronald Cox on Increasing Extension’s Evidenced-based Programming. Some of Extension's best Family Science research and programs in childcare, individual and youth development, couple relationships, parent education, family life education, and elder care were then highlighted. Dr. Donald Bower, University of Georgia, was recognized for his contributions to the NCFR Education and Enrichment Section and was also presented a lifetime achievement award in Family Science by Dr. Crocoll. Dr. Matthew Devereaux, University of Tennessee, received the Family Life Early Achievement Award. Dr. Crocoll concluded the session by providing an update on implementation of the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act (Farm Bill) and Dr. Diane Sasser, Louisiana State University Ag Center, extended an invitation to faculty and specialists to attend the 2009 Extension Family Science Network Conference in New Orleans.
