Tribal Colleges Extension Services

Purpose

The Tribal Colleges Extension Services competitive program provides funding for the 1994 institutions to conduct non-formal education and outreach activities to help meet the needs of the Native American people and to provide essential services to their communities.

Eligibility

Only 1994 land-grant institutions are eligible to apply for funds under this program.

  • Natural Resources and Environmental Management

Awards

Awards are made directly to the 1994s and may be administered by the 1994 institutions. At the discretion of a 1994 institution, funds awarded may be administered by the 1994 institution through a cooperative agreement with an 1862 institution or an 1890 institution.

Funding

The funding for Fiscal Year 2007 is estimated at $3,100,000.

Results and Impacts

Several highly successful programs in the areas of nutrition and health, natural resources, family resource management, and youth development are affecting Native American communities positively.
