Outreach and Assistance for Socially Disadvantaged
Farmers and Ranchers
The Outreach and Assistance for Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers (OASDFR) competitive grants program provides outreach and technical assistance to socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers. OASDFR encourages and assists those qualified to own and operate farms and ranches and to participate equitably in the full range of agricultural programs offered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
OASDFR projects may:
-
encourage use of outreach and assistance networks to increase participation in USDA and other programs;
-
enhance the potential for farm and ranch ownership by developing or modifying farm and ranch management (including marketing) and financial management curricula and materials;
-
develop innovative delivery systems to improve the effectiveness of OASDFR programs; or
-
create new or improve existing methods to provide assistance to the targeted audiences.
Applicants may develop proposals that incorporate multiple collaborators, particularly community-based collaborators. Applicants are encouraged to coordinate with existing regional projects to complement cross-regional activities.
Projects are funded from $100,000–$300,000 for 1–3 years. Approximately 30-40 percent of the submitted proposals have received awards. Approximately $5.9 million will be available for FY 2008 funding.
Please note: applications must be submitted electronically through Grants.gov.
