Fact Sheets About the EPA CAFO Rule

The Concentrated Feeding Operations Fact Sheets (CAFO) are a collection of more than 20 publications that address questions educators and producers are most like to have about what the CAFO requirements mean, how they affect livestock and poultry production facilities, and what producers must do to comply with the regulations.

A team of 15 Land-Grant University System faculty, in partnership with NIFA, USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), collaborated to develop the fact sheets. To help regulating agencies and producers apply environmental rules, the contents answer the most frequently asked questions about the CAFO regulations.

The group that developed these fact sheets and the entire Livestock and Poultry Environmental Stewardship (LPES) Curriculum Team are sharing nationally these educational resources on environmental topics related to animal production. The EPA Ag Center has also played a key role in ensuring the compatibility of these answers with the final CAFO rules.
