This is one of 12 topic areas in the USDA SBIR program. Research funded under this program seeks to improve the efficiency of crop production using innovative plant breeding, biotechnology, cell and tissue culture, and genomics. The results will include the development of crops with improved quality and yield, the reduction of the harmful impact of plant pathogens and insect pests, and/or the development of new crop plants or new uses for existing crop plants. Technologies addressing the needs of specialty crops are especially relevant.
