National Research Initiative - Plant Genome

The NRI Plant Genome Program supports research ranging from technology development to fundamental science and practical application for U.S. crop or forestry improvement. The ultimate goal of the program is to contribute knowledge about the biology of agriculturally important plant processes and traits, which can be used to develop crops with enhanced economic value and expanded utility. The program has four elements: Tools, Resources, and Bioinformatics; Functional Genomics; Genome Structure and Organization; and Applied Plant Genomics Coordinated Agricultural Project (CAP). NOTE: Letter of intent (LOI) is required for the Applied Plant Genomics CAP program element (see below for the LOI due date). Applicants are strongly encouraged to read the entire Program Description section for current priorities and additional information relative to the program of interest. Please carefully review the RFA guidelines to ensure application acceptance.
