Agriculture Food Research Initiative - Foundational Program: Agriculture Economics and Rural Communities (AERC), AFRI

This AERC Program Area supports projects involving rigorous research and analysis that improves the sustainability of agricultural and related activities in rural areas, protects the environment, enhances quality of life, and alleviates poverty. Topical issues include, but are not limited to, the interactions between agriculture, environment and communities in rural areas; demographic changes and impacts; consumer preferences or behavior; decision-making under uncertainty; market structure and performance; policy design and impact; or agricultures impact on the environment. The AERC Program Area primarily supports social and behavioral science disciplines such as economics, sociology, political science, history, geography and others. Interdisciplinary efforts involving social and nonsocial science disciplines are also invited. Domestic and international partnerships that leverage resources and are mutually beneficial to the applicant, other U.S. states, or other countries are encouraged.
