Overview:
Carmela serves as the national program leader for research and development of agricultural raw materials and wastes used in the manufacture of biobased industrial products and bioenergy; projects focus on new crops, new uses for conventional crops, and processing activities to convert agricultural materials into such industrial products as functional fluids, fuels, plastics, coatings, and packaging.
