The goal of the NIFA Housing and Community Living Program is to contribute to the quality of life for consumers through sustainable housing initiatives, including safe and affordable housing, air and water quality, and energy. NIFA works with partners to provide research, education, and outreach programs for consumers and professionals in housing, health, and environmental fields to help them make accurate decisions about homes and the community. NIFAs national program leader for Housing and Community Living provides leadership for special projects related to food preservation and development of the Master Family and Consumer Sciences Volunteer Program.
